Review.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness sees Benedict Cumberbatch reprise the role of Steven Strange in a dimensional reality-bending adventure. The storyline sees Dr Strange endeavour to protect a young girl from his dreams (Xochitl Gomez), who has the ability to travel throughout the multiverse.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness is confused and chaotic. Directed by Sam Raimi, the film feels like a Sam Raimi film and comfortably sits amongst a back catalogue that contains the likes of The Evil Dead, Darkman and Drag Me To Hell. True to form, the director ensures a macabre Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness contains blood, gore, demons, resurrections, zombies and a couple of jump-scares, all in the most MCU family-friendly way imaginable.

If I reflect on the 20 films prior to Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, it is impressive to recall how well Marvel Studios supremo, Kevin Feige and his team of writers were able to coherently thread an ongoing narrative through multiple characters and numerous storylines until a satisfying culmination, Avengers: Endgame. Post Avengers: Endgame, I remain unconvinced Marvel Studios has such a plan for the evolution of the MCU.

Following on from Black Widow, Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings and Eternals, Marvel Studios really could do with a successful outing to demonstrate to the audience that there is a plan beyond Avengers: Endgame.

I fear a lot rests on the shoulders of Thor: Love An Thunder.
