Over the course of the past three years, I have reviewed more than 400 films on the Bravo Alfredo blog and as the blog celebrates its third anniversary, I reflect on the films I have watched this year.

In June of this year, I watched, probably, my all-time favourite film - Ridley Scott's Blade Runner. In my opinion, Blade Runner is one of the greatest science fiction films ever made. And whilst Ridley Scott's more recent offerings have often disappointed, there's no denying the veteran director has produced some fine films in his time - Blade Runner and Gladiator - make the list of the Top 10 films I have watched this year.
Ridley Scott is joined on the list of the Top 10 films I have watched this year by the French Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve who is also represented on the list with two films - Dune: Part Two and Incendies. In my 22 June 2024 review of the latter film I wrote, "Incendies may just be the best film of his career - an early indicator of his preoccupations as a storyteller and his considerable talents as a visual stylist."
This is the third year I have produced a list of the Top 10 films I have watched in a year and no director has appeared on all three lists. The Coen Brothers, Christopher Nolan, Ridley Scott and Denis Villeneuve have appeared in two of the three annual lists,
- The Coen Brothers with Fargo, Miller's Crossing and No Country For Old Men
- Christopher Nolan with Inception, Interstellar and Oppenheimer
- Ridley Scott with Black Hawk Down, Blade Runner and Gladiator
- Denis Villeneuve with Arrival, Dune: Part Two and Incendies.
I have also compiled a Top 10 list of films released in 2024 that I have reviewed.
